Did you know, that when you’re planning a visual story like a comic book, you don’t just plan what the reader is concentrating on (a character, text box etc), you even plan what their peripheral vision might see. When a reader starts at the top of a new page, their eyes also scan the shapes and colours in panels to come, and the brain starts anticipating how to take them there smoothly. This subconscious reading ahead is what gives comics their interesting cinematic flow, and not just feel like a bunch of images in boxes!
